Turiya Softech at Vizag Fintech Fest – VFF 2018

Being a startup company it was indeed a great opportunity for us to participate in VFF 2018 in the city of destiny. Vizag Fintech Festival 2018, an initiative by Government of Andhra Pradesh and organized by Fintech Valley Vizag was held from 22nd – 26th October 2018 at Hotel Novotel, Vizag. The event was well organized by APEITA, SingEx and other sponsors.

The festival was dignified with the presence of dignitaries like N. Chandra Babu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Nara Lokesh, Hon’ble IT Minister, Sri. Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Education, Sri. JA Chaudhary, IT Advisor to Govt. of AP, Sri. K. Vijayanand, IAS, Principal Secretary ITE&C Dept., and Sri. Anoop Singh, IFS, Special Secretary – ITE&C Dept, etc.

The tech festival was a great success with 40 startups representing around 12 countries who pitched in their innovative ideas at the $1 million StartUp Challenge Grand Finale. The three sectors that showcased were into Fintech, Agritech and Emergetech. Application of Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture was far more a revelation to us in the Tech Fest. Meeting Sophia, the world’s first humanoid built on AI, and her enlightening talk was more empowering to us.

Turiya Softech showcased their new AI powered product FeEasy and 3D Scanning to Modelling services.

FeEasy that is to be launched by this year end, is particularly for the education industry to manage online fee payments, savings for future education and provide educational loans through banks. This product can be integrated with any academic/sports/arts institutions platform and also to bank platforms. Once this product is released, it will be integrated with schools, colleges and banks.

We also received an overwhelming response for our 3D scanning services and had discussions on working with some of the leading businesses in the industry, which will be starting soon. Also we have a few other companies who are willing to complement our AI products and services paving the way for a long term partnership. All this was indeed beyond our expectations and a great ROI. Especially, the IT Bureaucrats from AP Govt visiting our booth and committing to extend their support was one big achievement that we are very much proud of.

Turiya Softech started just 6 months ago and getting such a visibility required a lot of preparation and it was not a simple task. Being prepared was the most hectic task of all. It looked very promising to us and was indeed a truly amazing experience. We had a very good opportunity to attract potential customers to stop by and talk to us. And also we did visit their booths as well. A great amount of learning mixed with possible opportunities for future was indeed the highlight of the Tech Fest for us. Here, we would like to share some of the points that we have learned from our first Tech Fest being a startup company delegate.

1.Preparation by not underestimating anything

A structural list of tasks was prepared and executed, which indeed helped us to gain more valuable insights as a newbie to the Fest. Preparing even the minutest of the details required for the Tech Fest gave us confidence to ease through it smoothly. Handling and talking to customers who visited our stall was not a big deal for us since we did prepare for the kind of questions we would be asked.

2.Need of spreading the news that you will be at the Fest

Posting messages on our social media pages to let people know that we will be attending the VFF 2018 was a success. Meeting up with investors and clients gave us the chance to possibly outreach and educate them. We tried everything to set up meet-ups and have conferences with the investors.

3. At the Stand

Preparing your pitch was the most challenging for us since we just started and our product is yet to be released. We also gave importance to the 3D project that we are currently working on. While talking to many of them, we understood current issues of the person we are talking to and we were able to showcase the most imp features addressing their issues. We did a lot of talking as a lot of people came and spoke to us.

4. Be different

We also tried to stand out with our booth as much as possible. The attractive standee that we designed pulled in more people and we could pitch to them immediately along with visuals too. Deciding to provide chocolates with the company’s name stuck onto them was a big hit which worked pretty well and there were many people who wanted to visit the stall and know more about us.

5. Networking

Going for this Fest was all about networking, getting out of your comfort zone. We found ourselves ready to start a conversation anytime and anywhere. In fact, saw a huge learning there that some of the company people had similar t-shirts on with their company name printed on it and it really stood out as people can remember them more and can recall asap. We tried everything that helped us to break the ice, walked and looked and analyzed around and saw potential everywhere. Also the dinner meets after the fest was more fruitful since that was the best time for finding someone interesting to talk to.

6. Online presence and social media

Online presence during the event was very important since it kept people informed of our business and why we were there. It was a great learning that it’s very essential to show off your presence everywhere. How to tweet and use right hash tags, keynotes in advance, etc.

7. Keynote speakers and discussions

Attending the fest helped us to learn new things and keeping up with the new trends in technology. Choosing the relevant speakers and listening to what they have to say, attending the chat sessions, meet other start ups and write about them, etc, were some of the take away for us.

8. Sending Follow up emails

Finally, attending such fest doesn’t end up with just pitching our product and exchanging business cards. Building and sending them a follow up email and maintaining the connect for a longer time is necessary. You never know from where you will get business. And one email isn’t enough but several emails and calls pertaining to any achievements or beneficial factors to them can be sent as well. Last but not the least, setting up expectations in advance was a necessity. Preparation is the key to success. Look forward to attend more fest and conferences as they are a wonderful opportunity to meet new clients in order to grow business. If you have already attended fests and conferences like these, please do share your knowledge or comments in the section below.
